Open MIDI editor while recording

Has this old-ish issue been ever addressed? I'll probably repost if it hasn't...

Hey Tod, So how do you open the midi item while you are recording (audio or midi) on another track? Double clicking doesn't seem to work for me...

I could use the ability to open the midi editor while recording other tracks too.

I can't imagine the purpose of this. Do you have more than two hands and cameleon eyes ? When I record something, whatever it is - voice, guitar, keyboard... I'm totally focused on what I'm doing. How can one modify a MIDI item the same time ?

Another use-case: the person doing the performing and the person recording may be two different people. The artist may be loop recording a few takes or improvising while the engineer may want to do some light edits or marking up takes/sections as that's happening.

Or you want to screencap work in one projcet tab while recording voiceover on one track and loopback (from first project) to another track in second project tab.

Shouldn't this thread be in the Feature Request forum?
