Hi, just double check to make sure you have the right sized discs on as there are 2 different sizes for these volvos. If the brake pads are covering the whole area of the disc, it should be the right sized discs. Next, i assume that you put new brake pads on as well. When you change discs, you should always replace the pads as well. If this is the case, it could be just a case of taking time to bed in.

IMHO you have a problem - this should not happen! I had a similar problem with my last car (Passat) following change of discs and pads. I left them for 500 miles to see if they would bed-in - they didn't! Inspection of the pads showed they were wearing unevenly and you could detect a pronounced wedge shape across the face. Only resolved by changing the pads. I concluded that either there was a manufacturing defect with the pads (pad material was not homogenous or the backing plate was not seating correctly allowing them to twist) OR I had fitted them incorrectly. Other casues could be: - Faulty disc - check to see if there is any taper across the diameter (i.e. thicker at the outside edge and thinning as you move towards the hub). Cracked calliper - i.e. flexing under pressure. Dirt / paint / anti-squeal shim meaning piston contacting with outer edge of pad first rather than meeting it squarely.

Ok tell this thicko what does IMHO mean? Dirt / paint / anti-squeal shim meaning piston contacting with outer edge of pad first rather than meeting it squarely. Funny you should mention the anti sqeal. When it came to the offside brakes, I ran out of anti squeal. Maybe I should buy some more and re-do the brakes, then see what happens.?
